Patient Rights & Responsibilities

Every person who comes to Manipal Hospitals Rwanda is entitled to safe, respectful, and dignified care. We also ask patients to play their part so we can care for you well.

Your rights

  • Considerate, respectful care regardless of background, free from discrimination.
  • Clear information about your diagnosis, treatment options, and likely outcomes.
  • To give or withhold informed consent before any procedure.
  • Privacy and confidentiality of your medical information.
  • To seek a second opinion and to access your medical records.
  • To know the estimated cost of your care and to receive an itemised bill.
  • To raise a complaint and have it addressed promptly.

Your responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and complete information about your health.
  • Follow the agreed care plan and ask questions when unsure.
  • Treat staff and other patients with courtesy and respect.
  • Keep your appointments or let us know in advance if you cannot.
  • Meet your financial obligations for the care you receive.
